Pineapple Picking

Yes. I had a chance to walk through the prickly pineapple fields with gloves, boots, jeans and long sleeves and look through the pineapples and collect them on my last day. Prickly. Prickly and prickly. From far away, the field looks like a pile of weed, but it’s actually a very organized field of weeds with hidden pineapples here and there.

Riding in the back of a truck at 6am, I became super excited in the idea of stepping into the pineapple field and collect some little prickly creatures. However, when I really walked into the field, it feels like hundreds of spiders poke you at the same time with their fangs. You have to push through and look through the fangs to search for the prickly gold that they try to protect! It’s like a treasure hunt in a spider field.

Ok. I probably exaggerated a bit, but it was very prickly. After a while, however, you don’t really notice it. The sun got a bit hotter, you see real spiders, but you push through their webs and you see pineapples that have had a hole eaten out of them by other insects. The bugs are extremely adorable, but they’re also annoying for the farmers. Mixed feelings for the bugs and for pineapples.
